Awards & Honors

William "Red" Whittaker was awarded the 2012 Simon Ramo Medal by IEEE, the world's largest technical professional organization. Mr. Whittaker is a professor in Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute. The medal, sponsored by Northrop Grumman Corporation, recognizes Mr. Whittaker for his pioneering contributions to mobile autonomous robotics, field applications of robotics and systems engineering.

Barbara Evans, associate dean of Academic Affairs at the Community College of Allegheny County South Campus, was selected as one of the New Pittsburgh Courier's 50 Women of Excellence. Ms. Evans holds a bachelor of arts degree in English writing, a master of arts in teaching and a doctorate in education from the University of Pittsburgh.
