Westmoreland County Community College named Nicole Reaves as vice president of academic affairs and student services.

Bill O'Rourke was named executive director of The Beard Institute of Duquesne University's Palumbo Donahue School of Business.


K. Scott Baker will join the senior staff of UPMC as vice president and chief government affairs officer on Sept. 1. Currently, Mr. Baker works in government relations for Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, where he represents clients primarily in the health care, energy, technology and nonprofit sectors.

Eleven new physicians have joined the Division of Cardiology and the Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) at Allegheny General Hospital.

The doctors will practice primarily at AGH on Pittsburgh's North Side as well as at CVI locations throughout WPAHS, including Canonsburg General Hospital, Forbes Regional Hospital and West Penn Hospital.

New cardiologists who have joined the AGH/WPAHS faculty include: Richa Agarwal, who previously held appointments as Advanced Clinical Fellow, Heart Failure and Transplantation, at Columbia University and Visiting Clinical Fellow, Heart Failure at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago; Kwame O. Akosah joins from the University of Virginia Health System, where he was an associate professor of medicine; Amresh Raina completed fellowships in advanced heart failure transplantation and cardiovascular disease at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a fellowship in nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular imaging at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University Medical Center; George Bekic was a cardiologist in private practice in Lumberton, N.C., before joining AGH; Mithun Chakravarthy joins AGH after completing fellowships in interventional cardiology and general cardiology at West Penn Allegheny Health System; Michael A. Gaglia Jr. comes to AGH from Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University, where he completed fellowships in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease; Emerson Honmin Liu joins WPAHS from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he was fellow in cardiology and chief fellow in electrophysiology; Manreet Kanwar, who completed an advanced heart failure, transplantation and pulmonary hypertension fellowship at West Penn Allegheny Health System; Moneal B. Shah completed a cardiac imaging fellowship at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, N.Y., and a cardiology fellowship at West Penn Allegheny Health System; Rajiv S. Swamy, who completed advanced training in coronary, peripheral and structural interventions as an interventional fellow at New York University Medical Center; and J. Travis Wilson, who completed fellowships in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease at AGH following an internal medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh named the following individuals to its board:

Amanda Cavill, assistant vice president and project manager, acquired loan accounting - finance, PNC Financial Services Inc.; and David J. McAllister, partner, labor & employment law practice group, litigation department, Reed Smith. In addition, the board named new officers: chairman, Dennis J. Farkos, Carnegie Mellon University; vice chairman, Louis A. Lobes Jr., Retina Vitreous Consultants; treasurer, John A. Lemmex, Bayer Material Science; and secretary, Bonnie Anton, UPMC St. Margaret Hospital.
