PITTSBURGH (KDKA) â" There is new information following a KDKA Investigation into allegations of improper conduct by a Pittsburgh school district police officer.
New alleged victims have reached out to KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin.
According to police, at least two incidents happened at Rooney Middle School in 1999. One student was allegedly brought into a closet by a Pittsburgh schools police officer who allegedly wrestled with him while wearing boxer shorts.
Another student has since come forward alleging the same school district police officer allegedly forced him to have oral sex in the storage closet on numerous occasions â" allegations deeply disturbing to District Attorney Stephen Zappala.
âThis guyâs not a cook in a cafeteria, heâs a police officer and these little kids they look up to police officers so he was already clothed with credibility,â he said.
âLike a football coach at Penn State, youâre protected by the institution that you serve, so yeah, he should have been taken out of service immediately. I mean, thatâs the conclusion Iâve reached already.â
The school district investigated the allegations at the time, suspended the officer for 20 days and did not fire him. They did not inform Pittsburgh police of the allegations for three months.
In a memo obtained by the KDKA Investigators written by former Pittsburgh schools security chief Bob Fadzen in 1999, he says, ââ¦I want to be on record recommending (the officerâs) immediate termination and further advising Pittsburgh police irregardless of the current statements or evidence.â
ââ¦.I would like to see the children interviewed by a trained child abuse specialist.â
Investigators say at this point, they are not convinced any of that happened.
