Pittsburgh police arrested an Allentown man this morning in the Aug. 26 shooting death of 19-year-old Daimond Hill in Beltzhoover.
Deshawn Nelson, 19, was arrested at his home, police said.
In a criminal complaint, police said a witness, who they declined to identify, saw Mr. Hill leave a home at 404 Curtain Ave. and then heard five to six gunshots on the day he was killed.
From a second-story window, the witness saw Mr. Nelson run down the street with a gun in his hand wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
Police said Mr. Hill was found shot outside 404 Curtain Ave. shortly after midnight. He was rushed to UPMC Mercy, where he was pronounced dead at 12:54 a.m. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner ruled he died of a gunshot wound to the lower right chest.
The day before the fatal shooting, the witness was driving a blue Chevrolet Tahoe often driven by Mr. Hill when Mr. Nelson fired shots at the car, the witness told police. The Allegheny County Crime Lab compared shell casings from both shootings and found that the same gun was used, according to the complaint.
