Pittsburgh police are looking for two teenagers who have warrants issued against them in the death of a 17-year-old found under the Larimer Avenue Bridge Wednesday.
Police obtained warrants Saturday for homicide charges against Shawn Jones, 18 and Tyquan Brooks, 17, in the shooting death of Elijah Washington of Lincoln-Lemington.
According to a criminal complaint, an unidentified eyewitness was with Mr. Jones, Mr. Brooks and Mr. Washington during the shooting. The witness said the group traveled from a porch on Apple Avenue to Larimer Avenue and decided to walk under the Larimer Avenue Bridge instead of traveling across upon arrival.
The witness said Mr. Brooks asked him to use his cell phone during the walk, but refused to say where they were going or why he needed the phone. They said the fatal shots were fired immediately after he asked Mr. Brooks to return the phone.
Mr. Brooks and Mr. Jones are being charged with criminal homicide, robbery and criminal conspiracy. Mr. Brooks faces additional charges of attempted homicide and carrying a firearm without a license.
